New Invention – Whole House Humidifiers
We should be grateful to the ever-developing technology for the invention of the whole house humidifier. It is a great thing to have at home for leading a healthy life. The benefits of the whole house humidifiers make us all crave for it.
Whole house humidifiers were made with the motive of regulating the presence of humidity in our homes. But it comes with additional features like purification of air and making the furniture last for a longer period of time. These humidifiers do not allow air borne diseases to enter the house. Consequently, this reduces the occurrence of diseases like flu, allergies, and colds. The wooden furniture and surfaces of the house do not wear out easily. The regulation of the level of humidity in the house makes the place a more comfortable one to live in.
The whole house humidifiers are fitted into the existing air conditioning system or the central heating of the house. The humidifiers control the humidity of the incoming air entering through the central heating or the air conditioning system. Whole house humidifiers are capable of working in three distinct ways, viz. the Drums system, Spray Mist systems, and Flow Through systems. These ways determine the method by which the moisture is introduced into the humidifier.
In the Drums system, the water reservoir has a fabric belt or foam placed over it. The moisture is absorbed from the water reservoir by the belt and carried into the house when the air from the air conditioner or heater blows over it. These have to be cleared on a regular basis for it to function properly. Mold is often seen to develop in the water reservoir if it is left unattended.
The Spray Mist system works by spraying mist into the ducts of the central heater or the air conditioning system. It needs regular cleaning only if the water used in it is hard. The high mineral content of hard water can end up clogging the system if it is not cleaned.
The Flow through system has an aluminum pad or foam from which water keeps dripping. When the air conditioning or central heating blows air over the foam, the moisture is carried over to the rest of the house. The accumulation of dirt can clog the system, and hence should be cleaned regularly. The only disadvantage of the Flow Through system is that the excess water is disposed from the system. This calls for the use of a container to collect the extra water.
